Exceptional Charlottesville Animal Care

vet services near meWelcome to the Charlottesville Cat Care Clinic! Here at our veterinary office, we treat cats of all ages and sizes within the community of Charlottesville, VA. At our exclusively feline veterinary clinic, we offer the following medical services:

Physical examinations – Our physical examinations are designed to help catch any developing health problems that your cat might be experiencing. During our physical examinations, we’ll check your cat’s coat, mouth, eyes, ears, heart,  lungs, kidneys, and other abdominal organs.  We can also check  fecal samples for microscopic parasites and run blood tests if needed.

Vaccinations – Vaccinations help protect your cat from common diseases. As a part of our standard services, we’ll help your cat keep up with his or her booster schedule by providing you with regular reminders .   We tailor the vaccines and scheduling based on your cat’s needs.

Senior/Geriatric profiles – Once your cat gets older, he or she might need special services in order to stay healthy and happy. Senior or geriatric profiles for your cat will help you understand your pet’s needs and get your cat the medication he or she needs in order to thrive.

Dental care – Regular dental care will ensure that your cat is able to eat properly and comfortably. Dental care contributes to your cat’s quality of life, and also can solidify your relationship with your cat by improving his or her breath.

Ultrasound – We offer ultrasound services, because sometimes we need to see what’s going on beneath the surface. Ultrasound allows us to see the structure of the organs in a different way.  We can even use it to help guide us to obtain samples, such as urine.

Digital radiography – Digital radiography, like ultrasound, will help us see what’s going on inside your cat.  It is particularly helpful in looking at lung and bone problems or searching for urinary tract stones.

ECG – ECG is a non-invasive test that helps check on your cat’s heart health.

Pain management – Pain management is critical for injured and older cats who may be experiencing joint and muscle pain. Our pain management services help to keep your cat comfortable in a time of crisis, after an accident, to help reduce pain from ongoing chronic conditions or following surgery.

Hospice care – When your cat is nearing the end of his or her lifespan, comfort and quality of life become critical factors to be considered. Our hospice care can help manage your cat in his final days and hours.

Preventative care – Preventative care helps keep your cat free of parasites and other health problems by following a management plan tailored to your cat.

Microchipping – By installing a microchip into your cat, you help to ensure that your feline friend will be returned in the event that he or she ever becomes lost.

Dental Services

February is National Pet Dental Health Month and our LVT’s offer dental screenings at no charge. Our clients will receive a 10% discount on all dental related services during the month of February or at any time of year if the dental is performed within 30 days of recommendation.

Surgical Services

We routinely perform ovariohysterectomies, castrations, exploratory surgeries, mass removals, and many other surgical procedures. Dr. Mahanes really enjoys soft tissue surgery. Onychectomies (declaws) for new patients are performed ONLY after physical exam and discussion with the Veterinarian performing the procedure. Existing patients must consult a member of our technicial staff prior to scheduling declaws  We want to be sure our clients completely understand the procedure and alternatives. All anesthetic patients are reviewed by the Veterinarian performing the procedure/surgery to make sure heart and lungs sound clear and no symptoms of disease are present prior to pre-medications and anesthesia being administered. The Veterinary staff utilizes pain medications, sedatives, and nerve blocks (when needed) for all surgical procedures. Patient comfort is a top priority at Cat Care. All patients are treated as if they are our own personal family members.
